The PACSystems line has been expanded with three new models

Emerson has expanded its PACSystems family of industrial PCs with three new models, the IPC 6010, IPC 7010, and IPC 8010, designed for demanding applications such as AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics

The systems are built to handle tasks like predictive maintenance, quality inspection, process optimisation, decision support, and supply chain management. Reliable computing power is essential for these applications, which depend on real-time data collection, protocol conversion, historisation, and analytics.

At the core of the new IPCs are soldered, industrial-rated 13th Generation Intel Core processors, with up to 64GB of ECC memory. The compact systems use fanless cooling to operate in environments up to 70°C, with thermal monitoring and an optional fan available for higher temperatures. Emerson has also incorporated patented vibration and thermal management technologies to extend operational lifespan.

For flexibility, the IPCs can be configured with SSD storage up to 4TB, multiple gigabit Ethernet ports, and as many as four PCIe slots. These options make them suitable for high-performance workloads such as vision systems, data processing, and advanced analytics.

Software deployment is simplified with pre-installed and pre-licensed operating systems and tools, including Windows IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021, PACEdge, and Linux. Users can also add Emerson’s Movicon Connext and Movicon WebHMI software or install their own OS and applications. Security is supported through Trusted Platform Module (TPM) crypto-processors and Secure Boot functionality.

By combining rugged hardware with flexible configuration options, the PACSystems IPC range is positioned to support industrial users building AI- and IoT-enabled systems that require continuous uptime, even in extreme environments.

Harish Shinde, vice president and general manager for controls and software, with Emerson’s discrete automation business, said, “These innovative next-generation IPCs are a key part of the critical hardware backbone supporting Emerson’s Boundless Automation vision. PACSystems IPCs are an ideal platform for developers seeking to future-proof industrial systems and achieve continuous uptime even in extreme environments as they create IoT, AI, and other advanced applications.”
