EA Technology, a grid-edge intelligence business, has launched an OLIMS online platform to transform how electrical assets are tested and maintained
The platform will enable Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) and industrial sites to access all their high-voltage (HV) transformer oil test results in one place, making it easier to identify trends and make informed maintenance decisions in real time.
The company has a fully comprehensive oil testing lab, based at its headquarters in Capenhurst, UK, capable of processing more than 40,000 oil samples a year, to accompany the platform.
The service is available for industrial sites and DNOs from the UK, with oil samples tested for key indicators, including dissolved gases, moisture, and acidity, to help gauge the health and condition of HV transformers.
The new capabilities will allow operators of critical high-voltage equipment to use test results to conduct maintenance of their electrical assets faster and more efficiently.
HV transformers are a large part of the UK’s critical energy infrastructure and are insulated with oil to keep them running smoothly.
Without regular oil tests, HV transformers are at risk of overheating, insulation breakdown, and unexpected failure, which can disrupt commercial and domestic power supplies.
