On 23rd August 2006, at the Bonneville Salt Flats in the USA, the JCB Dieselmax achieved a stunning 350mph (563km/h) to break its own land speed record for diesel-powered cars set the previous day by Andy Green.

The new record of 350.092mph (563.418km/h) was claimed after two passes in opposite directionswithin one hour.
Running soon after daybreakthe car recorded 365.779mph (588.664km/h) on its first run and 335.695mph (540.248km/h) on its returngiving the average of 350.092mph (563.418km/h). The record is subject to official ratification by the FIA.
