Designed for enhanced safety and easier installation

Parker Hannifin, a specialist in motion and control technologies, has launched its Global Vehicle Motor (GVM) series, GVM210 Gen 2, a development of its electric motor platform designed to help OEMs and integrators accelerate vehicle electrification across on- and off-highway applications

The second generation expands on the GVM210 platform with updates focused on easier installation and integration, improved safety, and increased robustness for demanding duty cycles and global operating environments.

The GVM210 Gen 2 has been designed to support electrification across on- and off-highway vehicle categories, including material handling, construction, mining, agricultural and utility vehicles, and speciality or purpose-built platforms.

As vehicle manufacturers scale electrified platforms across all sectors, drivetrain components must deliver high performance in a more compact form factor while remaining reliable, easy to maintain, and globally compatible. The GVM210 Gen 2 addresses these requirements through a redesigned, application-focused approach that simplifies system integration.

The GVM210 Gen 2 introduces installation-focused enhancements to increase integration flexibility across OEM platforms. To support a variety of system designs and control strategies, Gen 2 offers pigtail connector options in 12-pin and 16-pin configurations. The 16-pin option enables two PT1000 temperature sensors to operate in a separate mode for full motor thermal protection with three-phase control, even at low torque speeds. These options can help OEMs align motor feedback and protection features with their inverter strategy and vehicle duty requirements while simplifying installation.

Safety has been enhanced in the GVM210 Gen 2, with a power connector option and support for high-voltage interlock loop (HVIL) functionality, enabling manufacturers to meet modern electrified vehicle safety expectations through interlock strategies. The power supply automatically cuts off immediately when the power connector or low-level connector is disconnected.

For electro-hydraulic pump (EHP) systems operating in demanding conditions, the GVM210 Gen 2 enhances sealing and overall robustness with an optional O-Ring installed on the prepared motor flange. These durability-oriented improvements help to optimise resistance in harsh environments and protect frequently exposed interfaces, including greased spline coupling, ensuring consistent operation and preventing leaks between the motor and pump, as well as grease contamination from dust in the motor environment.

Bruno Jouffrey, market manager Mobile, Electric Motion & Pneumatic Division, Parker Hannifin, said, “The GVM210 Gen 2 is designed to carry forward the performance customers rely on from the Gen 1 series while making the motor easier to install across a wider range of vehicle architectures. We have also improved connectivity, for easier and faster integration, in addition to safety improvements.”
