Kistler’s type 6190B temperature and pressure sensor has front face diameter of just 4mm, making it suitable for injection moulding
Kistler claims that its combined pressure and temperature sensor type 6189A is the world’s smallest, with a front diameter of 2.5mm.
This sensor has already been extremely well received by the injection moulding industry.
The company has now transferred the advantages of this tiny sensor to the new sensor type 6190B, with a front diameter of 4 mm, whose thermocouple leads are also threaded through the pressure measuring elements.
The new sensor consequently responds even faster to variations in temperature; at the same time, its pressure elements offer an increased sensitivity of 9 pC/bar, which is comparable with the standard pressure sensor type 6157B. The new combination comes with a novel method of connection using a cable that is easily replaceable on site.
Measurement of the contact temperature in addition to the cavity pressure yields valuable process information for optimising and monitoring the injection moulding process. Kistler’s family of sensors for combined pressure and temperature acquisition measures both process variables at the same point. In injection moulding applications, the thermocouple located at the very front of the sensor determines the direct melt contact temperature.
