The 2026 AMPP Western Conference, held in Renton, Washington, November 16-18, will bring corrosion and coatings professionals together to examine how materials, technologies, and protection strategies perform under anything but routine conditions
Hosted by the AMPP Greater Puget Sound Chapter, the conference will focus on Extreme Environments: Managing Challenges for Land, Maritime, and Offshore Infrastructure. Owners, operators, engineers, contractors, inspectors, manufacturers, and technical specialists will share their approaches to corrosion control, coatings performance, and long-term asset integrity across demanding operating conditions.
Peter Harkins, conference chair, Mobiltex, said, “Extreme environments expose weaknesses quickly, whether you’re dealing with marine exposure, difficult access, remote assets or demanding operating conditions. This conference gives people who face those challenges an opportunity to compare experiences, learn what is working in the field and make connections with others solving similar problems across different industries.”
Technical Program Connects Challenges Across Industries
Instead of examining extreme environments through the perspective of a single sector, the Western Conference will bring together experience from across land-based, maritime, offshore, and industrial infrastructure.
Technical sessions will explore cathodic protection and corrosion management; coatings, linings, and inspection; fleet readiness and maritime and offshore challenges; materials selection, weld integrity, and cracking; drones, robotics, and advanced technologies; power generation, rail, and industrial infrastructure; workforce development and safety; and regional challenges.
Tim Harding, technical chair, TC Energy, said, “The conditions may be different from one asset or industry to another, but many of the fundamental materials performance questions are shared. The technical program is designed to connect field experience with practical solutions and emerging technologies so attendees can take useful ideas back to the assets and programs they manage.”
Full conference registration includes technical sessions, networking breaks, two exhibit hall networking receptions, lunch, and Professional Development Hours (PDHs).
Additionally, the conference will feature a co-located rectifier course on November 16, led by Don Olson of Mobiltex Data. The course combines instruction with hands-on troubleshooting to cover rectifier operation, functions, and basic troubleshooting.
Connecting the Corrosion and Coatings Community
The Hyatt Regency Lake Washington will host the conference, bringing technical programming, exhibits, and networking activities together in one location.
Advance conference registration is available through October 19, 2026, and the conference hotel reservation deadline is October 26, 2026.
The AMPP Western Conference is open to professionals from North America and around the world; attendance is not limited to those located in the Western region.
