Nord is providing digital twins for system development. Based on a myNord configuration, it is now possible to request individually created drive systems as simulation models, enabling engineers to verify in the early planning phase whether the drive concept is suitable for the system
Since the publication of the functional mock-up interface (FMI) technical standard in 2010, it has become increasingly common to work with simulation models in system planning. Nord DriveSystems also utilises data-based simulations to develop its components and drive solutions.
The system provider is now using this knowledge to help customers achieve greater efficiency and availability in its drive systems through a digital service.
Users can configure drive systems or components for their needs as usual via the myNord customer portal. Customers can select components and their features, including performance, mounting options and outputs. Customers can then request a simulation model of the fully configured drive system.
The digital twins of the Nord solutions enable faster availability of the entire system. The simulation models are inserted into a similarly simulated system where the drive configuration can be tested. If any adjustments are needed, they can be implemented based on data, and errors can be resolved early in development.
Once the customer has validated the virtual drive system, Nord will manufacture and deliver it. At this point, the drives are already functionally integrated into the system control, allowing actual commissioning to be done in a reduced timeframe. The whole process can be condensed into a few weeks rather than several months.
