CRC Evans, an expert in speciality welding and protective coating solutions for energy and critical industries infrastructure, has opened an end-to-end coating facility, doubling the size of its operation in Burnley, UK
The new 90,000 square-foot Burnley Centre of Excellence, Pioneer House, is a major investment in CRC Evans’ global growth and diversification ambitions, responding to growing demand for the company’s technical expertise across established and emerging energy and critical infrastructure markets.
Combining advanced manufacturing, engineering, speciality welding, protective coating, and digital capabilities under one roof, the facility expands CRC Evans’ end-to-end capability and capacity to support complex customer requirements.
The investment comes as CRC Evans grows and diversifies internationally, expanding on its leadership in conventional energy pipeline infrastructure while building its presence across the critical infrastructure required to deliver renewables, nuclear, defence, aerospace, utilities, and other industrial sectors.
The Burnley facility will support projects and customers across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Australasia, and Latin America, working with CRC Evans’ North American operations in Houston.
The mayor and leader of Burnley Borough Council joined CRC Evans’ leadership, alongside over 100 international customers and industry partners, to celebrate the facility’s opening, recognising the company’s long-standing commitment to the region and Burnley’s growing role within its international operations.

The facility has been designed to meet regulatory and industry requirements, with contamination-controlled workflows, segregated facilities, and enhanced quality assurance and cyber security processes, helping CRC Evans work across a wider range of materials and meet the needs of highly regulated sectors.
Building on its leadership in Injection Moulded Polypropylene (IMPP), a technology used to protect and thermally insulate pipeline joints in demanding high-temperature and deep-water environments, CRC Evans is expanding its speciality protective coating capability through its investment.
The new Centre of Excellence expands CRC Evans’ high-integrity protective coating capability for complex and safety-critical assets across sectors such as nuclear, defence, and aerospace. Sector-specific solutions include multi-layer epoxy and polyurethane systems, high-temperature specialist finishes, thermal metal spray, advanced polymer coatings, and intumescent fire protection.
Additionally, the expansion reflects CRC Evans’ commitment to developing future skills through its extensive apprenticeship programme, building the next generation of engineering talent needed across energy and critical infrastructure and reinforcing its long-term contribution to the region and wider industry.
