Designed for the requirements of industrial cooling towers
Weg, a specialist in electric motors and gearboxes, has expanded its WG50 line with the launch of the WG50 Cooling Tower gearbox
Developed for the demanding requirements of industrial cooling towers, the new gearbox provides durability, heat dissipation, and operational reliability.
The WG50 Cooling Tower combines Weg’s motion expertise with advanced design methods. Using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis, the gearbox ensures efficient oil circulation, better thermal regulation, and improved endurance during continuous operation. These advancements provide high thermal capacity in demanding environments and help maximise equipment lifespan.
Designed to withstand cooling tower challenges, the WG50 Cooling Tower features several critical design improvements, including:
- A double seal system to protect internal components from moisture and contaminants
- A specialised protective coating resists corrosion
- A moisture-resistant film enhances gearbox longevity
Marek Lukaszczyk, UK and Middle East marketing manager, said, “With the WG50 Cooling Tower, WEG continues to advance its commitment to innovation, reliability, and customer-focused engineering. This solution delivers the durability and performance that today’s industrial cooling applications demand, while offering the robustness and efficiency users expect from the WG50 line.”
Built to comply with AGMA 6013 standards for cooling tower gearboxes, the WG50 Cooling Tower ensures construction and operational integrity. The gearbox features cast iron housing and helical gears, with shaft arrangements in parallel and right-angle configurations for various tower designs.
With nominal torque of 7.5 to 92 kNm and gear ratios of 6.3 to 22.48, the WG50 Cooling Tower offers the versatility needed for many cooling applications. Mounting options, including housing and flange configurations, enable straightforward installation. Output shafts are available in solid or hollow keyed-solid versions to ensure compatibility with diverse system requirements.
This design allows customisation, ensuring seamless integration into new or existing cooling tower systems. This flexibility makes it ideal for industries where continuous cooling performance is critical, including power generation, HVAC, chemical processing, and heavy industrial operations.
