New PowerRam Linear Actuators are built for improved machine design
Precision actuation, lifting, and positioning solutions provider Power Jacks has unveiled PowerRam, a new electric linear actuator range for automating manual systems in the transition from hydraulics to electro-mechanical linear motion.
It features a unified design to help machine builders standardise system and machine design. The same common actuator housing is used for machine screw, stainless steel, and ball screw by 3 PowerRam. This allows for alterations in actuator performance without changing dimensions.
For harsh environments requiring linear motion, a complete stainless steel version is available with high corrosion resistance, using marine and subsea technology. E-series screw jacks and PowerRam use the same worm gearbox design for each nominal capital size, allowing designers with an easy upgrade path.
Alex Crossland, managing director at Power Jacks, said: “It represents the latest stage in the evolution of our linear motion product offering, based on our precision actuation technology and customer demand. Investing in these products for your machine design comes with the reassurance that this is a proven actuator type that we have successfully used in a wide range of industry sectors.”
Demand from customers for the PowerRam inspired Power Jacks to develop the actuator, with Power Jacks having delivered similar style actuators to metal processing, food and beverage, offshore wind, oil and gas, defence, sports venues, water treatment, waterways, and nuclear power applications.
The success of specific application actuators led the company to develop a standard range actuators to be used across industries. Electric linear actuators are in high demand due to the need to operate in harsh environments.
Upon launch, machine screw, stainless steel, and ball screw designs will be available in five sizes with nominal capacity ratings of 10kN, 25kN, 50kN, 100kN, and 200kN.
