New expansion extends to battery pack explanations with adhesive
Parker Hannifin’s assembly and protection solutions division has unveiled its CoolTherm TC-850 thermal conductive structural adhesive for enhanced thermal management, structural integrity, and product efficiency in electrical vehicle packs.
Meeting the design, safety, and performance requirements of Parker’s electric vehicle manufacturers is a focus for the company, which has achieved its innovation through collaboration, customer service, and high quality.
The CoolTerm TC-850 deals with heat dissipation issues, long curing times, and material compatibility. The tape provides thermal conductivity, room-temperature curing adhesive, making it well-suited for battery module assembly.
Seth Carruthers, market manager at APS Division, said: “We are thrilled to introduce the CoolTherm TC-850 thermally conductive structural adhesive. By combining our two core competencies in thermally conductive materials and structural adhesives, we are able to deliver multi-functional materials to enhance our customers' battery pack performance and address the complex evolving needs of electrification.”
Battery pack manufacturers need tapes which are both strong in their structural bonding and offer thermal dissipation properties whilst helping production efficiency. Previous solutions have failed to tick all three of these boxes, meaning designers are left to make trade-offs.
CoolTherm TC-850 gives higher elongation, high adhesion to battery back components, thermal conductivity, improved EHS profile, redundant dielectric protection, high-speed application, and minimised need for mechanical fastening.
Parker’s portfolio of thermal management solutions for OEMs has been extended by the new addition, with the company aiming to provide safer solutions for efficient battery packs.
Solutions such as the CoolTherm will be on display at this years Electric and Hybird Vehicle Technology Expo in Germany, Suttgart, where visitors will get a first-hand look at the technology at Booth 10-C30. The company’s other thermal management materials, structural adhesives, coatings, sealing, gasketing, EMI shielding, grounding solutions will also be present.
