The partnership will deploy the AI platform, Boost, across North Sea operations
Empirisys, an Aberdeen-based process safety specialist, has partnered with Bumi Armada UK (BAUK) , a global offshore energy services provider, to advance safety reporting and leadership decision-making through its AI-driven platform, Boost
Boost, developed by Empirisys, is designed to work with Step Change in Safety's digital observation card tool, E-Obs. BAUK are a long-time user of E-Obs, which is free to SCiS member organisations and enables the workforce to speak up, take ownership and contribute to a safer workplace. Adopting Boost will allow the Armada Kraken FPSO, BAUK, to gain clearer insights, faster visibility into emerging risks, and stronger alignment between the workforce and leadership.
A joint study by Step Change in Safety and Empirisys, which examined over 24,000 observations submitted in 2024, found that almost 50% lacked sufficient hazard and Life-Saving Rule categorisation. By applying Boost, members can fill these gaps in real time, and 2025 deployments have already shown a 98% increase in reporting quality, with observations linked to the correct hazards and Life-Saving Rules.
Boost utilises advanced contextual analysis to simplify how observations are processed, reduce the manual burden on teams, and ensure insights reach the leadership team more quickly. Leaders can gain timely, reliable visibility of risk, while frontline staff can see their input reflected in tangible action.
Boost is also capable of identifying safety themes across thousands of observations, surfacing patterns and emerging risks that could have gone unnoticed. This provides leadership with the ability to make more informed decisions, targeting interventions where they will have the most significant impact.
