Additive manufacturing developments were presented at Formnext
Additive manufacturing show Formnext kicked off on November 19th in Frankfurt, Germany, with additive manufacturing (AM) companies and modern industrial producers showcasing their latest developments. More than 860 exhibitors were in attendance for the event.
AM continues to enter a variety of industries, helping their growth with its usage. It has played an important role in a range of innovations. A variety of applications and solutions were on show spanning across many different industries.
Sascha Wenzler, vice president of Formnext, said: “Formnext offers every industrial company the chance to benefit from these opportunities, from getting started with Additive Manufacturing to optimising the entire process chain.”
Entire process chains from design and materials through to post-processing and quality assurance were on show at Formnext. Attendees could view and have a first-hand experience of process chains and the innovations along them.
Formnext plays host to both existing events and new ones, with one of those being the new ‘Formnext Awards’. This has been established to recognise the ideas of talented companies and individuals.
The awards are presented across six different categories. This includes innovative start-ups, sustainable business ideas, pioneering technologies, and individuals who have contributed to the wider AM industry. The ballot has been opened to the public for the first time, allowing all attendees to have their say on who should win awards. Finalists can be voted for online.
Service Provider Marketplace allows visitors to meet AM service providers and build business connections. Companies which do not currently have its own AM facilities can discover how AM can benefit its operations. Applications include industries such as medical, dental, and packaging.
Other highlights included Discover3DPrinting seminars for beginners, the Formnext Awards showcase, and career day in the main hall.
