Gremsy expands NDAA-compliant UAV payload models with edge AI and Thermal by Flir

Teledyne Flir OEM’s Boson+ thermal camera module integrated into spherical drone payloads

Teledyne Flir OEM, a Teledyne Technologies Incorporated company and a specialist in thermal imaging innovation, is working with Gremsy, a provider of professional unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) payload and gimbal solutions, for its latest Thermal by Flir collaboration

Through the collaboration, Gremsy is introducing its NDAA-compliant Orus-L and Lynx payload lines to equip drones with advanced aerial thermal intelligence.

The International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)-free and National Defence Authorisation Act (NDAA)-compliant Boson+ thermal imaging camera module has been integrated into two new Gremsy products- Lynx, an ultra-compact ISR payload, and Orus-L, a sphere-shaped payload.

The Lynx NDAA model is designed for aerial efficiency, reducing SWaP challenges on UAV platforms and enabling longer operational times and greater platform versatility. Its dual thermal and visible imaging capabilities deliver an advantage for time-sensitive public safety, drone-as-first-responder (DFR), and defence missions. 

As the vanguard of Gremsy's spherical payload vision, the IP55-rated Orus-L NDAA model sustains flight speeds up to 100km/h across vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) and fixed-wing platforms. Powered by the Nvidia Jetson Orin NX, Orus-L performs complex AI tasks such as object detection, target locking, and autonomous tracking in real-time.

Utilising its built-in high-performance processor and Gremsy's image processing algorithm, this high-performance gimbaled solution includes an electro-optical (EO) camera, the radiometric Boson+ thermal camera module, and a laser range finder (LRF) suited for critical inspection and public safety applications.
