Optional integrated safety interlocking enables the DS Range to give machine builders, system integrators, and end users a flexible option to standardise control-station design while meeting application-specific control and machine-safeguarding requirements.
Designed for harsh operating conditions, the DS Range features heavy-duty die-cast construction for long-term durability, safety, and dependable performance. Its 40mm profile lets units mount directly to guard frames, saving space and simplifying point-of-use installation. This creates a compact control solution suitable for applications where reliable operator access and robust construction are essential.
The DS Range reduces installation effort and commissioning costs. Each unit uses a pre-configured quick-connect interface and a broad selection of connector configurations, enabling plug-and-play installation based on the number of pilot devices required. By reducing wiring time and minimising opportunities for connection errors, this approach speeds deployment and lowers overall commissioning costs. Units also arrive fully assembled and pre-wired from the factory, supporting consistent build quality and faster installation.
For flexible operator-control layouts, the DS Range supports up to 10 integrated pilot devices as standard. Units can incorporate emergency stops and pushbuttons, and each unit comes with a coloured lens pack that enables users to tailor the control layout to their application. An ISO-compliant symbol sticker pack provides clear, consistent identification of buttons and controls, helping operators quickly recognise each device’s intended function.
IDEM Safety Switches also provides straightforward specification options across the range. Customers selecting stations with two to five devices can use pre-configured part numbers, simplifying selection and ordering for common configurations. For stations with six to 10 devices, the DS Range product configurator provides a structured solution to create a control unit around the application’s requirements.
For applications requiring guard locking, the DS Range is available with the optional DS-MLZ Type 4 monitored guard lock and high-coded RFID actuator. This provides tamper-resistant guard detection and up to 4,000N maximum holding force for hinged and sliding guards. Monitoring guard and lock status supports integration into Category 4/PL e and SIL3 safety systems, enabling operator-control functions to be combined with high-level functional-safety capability.
