The Hall effect encoders are suitable for space-critical applications
Megatron's MBA and MKA rotary encoders are highly compact and, due to their configurations, are suited for applications with limited space. The MBA features a solid shaft and an imperial thread, whereas the MKA kit encoders have more flexibility for designers
The MBA magnetic encoder has a housing diameter of 12.7mm, and the shaft diameters are 3.175mm, 6mm, or 6.35mm. The encoder can be installed in the application via a central thread and cap nut. The MOLEX plug connection allows the signal cap to be easily connected to the evaluation unit during installation or disconnected from the application during maintenance.
The MKA absolute Hall effect encoder, whilst having a similar design to the MBA, is a kit encoder (bearingless), and consists of the encoder unit, a mounting rig, and an appropriate slip-on magnet for the shaft. Its modular design enables engineers to integrate the rotary encoder optimally into their application. The MKA shaft can be available in diameters ranging from 3mm to 6.35mm.
Both absolute encoders have absolute, analogue (0-5V) or pulse-width modulation output signals and operate at 5VDC with a resolution of 12 bits. The update rate of the position value is 0.14ms for analogue output. The MBA and MKA can be utilised for operating temperatures between -40°C and +125°C and can withstand vibrations up to 20g (10 Hz to 2 kHz). The MBA also features IP40 protection on the shaft side and is available with sleeve or ball bearings.
