Finnish mining company Metso is launching CathodeSense+, a free-standing system designed for the fast detection of nodules.

“The new CathodeSense+ is an improved and more robust version of its predecessor,” said Metso automation engineer of hydrometallurgy Henrik Jönsson. “It features user-friendly interfaces to enhance the overall experience while providing accurate quality analysis.”

The programme’s 3D scanner allows for higher cathode quality control, and its high-capacity throughput ensures reliable results for all cathode stripping machines.

Speed and simplicity are two qualities at the forefront of the CathodeSense+, with minimal calibration necessary to use the interfacing with different control systems.

“Its modular design and small installation footprint makes it easy to implement in both brownfield and greenfield environments,” added Jönsson.

Quality analysis is delivered in less than five seconds and the system is capable of handling high capacity throughout with up to 600 cathodes processed per hour.

CathodeSense+ is part of Metso’s Planet Positive Sense series, a plan to provide sustainable technology to mining companies so they can produce more metals for renewable energy sources.

In September, Metso also added to its Planet Positive Sense series, introducing the Larox PF 60 filter.
