Red Lion announces two new controllers, VT-MIPM-138-D and VT-MIPM-248-D.

Red Lion has announced two new Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), designed for extreme environments. VT-MIPM-138-D and VT-MIPM-248-D have been specifically designed for rugged, process-oriented applications in both water and wastewater processing. It also has applications in oil and gas production.

Jacob Colegrove, product manager said: “The VT-MIPM-138-D and VT-MIPM-248-D units represent the ultimate RTU upgrade for extreme industrial settings.”

RTUs are designed for performance regardless of conditions, delivering data logging, timestamping, logging trends, alarms and sequences of events. This grants operators full visibility on applications, as well as giving maximum standalone control over industrial processes. The Red Lion workbench provides extensive programming and troubleshooting capabilities, due to its IEC 61131 configuration environment. This is whilst being able to support backwards compatibility, as it supports ISaGRAF. The system is compatible with Ethernet TCP, Modbus, Linux and more to give it a truly open design.

The VT RTUs can support one to 1,000+ stations as the platform is programable and scalable, coming fully pre-certified so users can add any applications they need. RS485, RS232, up to four communication ports and 10/100 Ethernet ports allow multi-user connectivity. DI, DO, AI and AO have been combined to make Onboard I/O, which supports advanced communication capabilities. This includes reports on exception, peer-to-peer networking, store and forward.

Colegrove added: “For operators moving from an existing Sixnet series, it’s the obvious choice. They share the same footprint, have equivalent I/O count, offer comprehensive data logging and networking functionality, plus programmable features for full flexibility.”

Being able to work in a variety of extreme weather conditions, the controllers are operatable from -40°C to 70°C whilst also possessing UL Class I, Division 2, CE, and ABS Type certifications.
