NORD launches new control cabinet inverter variants

NORDAC PRO AK 500P offers greater system control and high compatibility.

NORD's NORDAC Pro SK 500p comes in a variety of power ranges, from 0.25kW to 22kW, which can meet almost any requirements of drive applications across industries. Work is still being done to extend the power range.

Reducing the number of inverter variants allows users to rely on a system long-term, which is exactly what NORD Pro SK 500P does. The cabinet inverter allows for high levels of versatility and intelligence communication with system components, as it has a control standard across several applications.

A multi-protocol Ethernet interface allows integration between the control component into different without the need for retrofitting. On top of this, a USB interface grants the voltage-free parameterisation of the inverter. Profinet, ethercat, ethernet/ip and powerlink protocols are also fitted into the device.

POSICON positioning function can deliver various positioning tasks. Paired with the integrated PLC which responds independently to process changes within the system creates a strong oversight of the system. This gives a high level of control, enabling the device to control relative or absolute positioning using incremental or absolute encoders. Up to four axes can be sequentially positioned using set switching parameters.

The control cabinet inverter can implement a wide range of industry-specific drive applications. It also has a vector regulation with an overload reserve of 200% making it suitable to manage and control geared motors in heavy-duty applications or lifting systems.  It is also suitable as a frequency inverter for pumps and winding systems due to its PI controller and integrator compensator. Due to its book-size format, the inverter requires very little space in the control cabinet and can work seamlessly due to its direct side-by-side installation without gaps.

Nord is currently developing new sizes for the inverter to make advantages available to a wider range of power units. It is currently possible to control all types of motors without having encoder feedback. The Nord modular system contains geared motors, industrial gear units and electric motors which results in a drive solution. This is designed to be best suited technically and economically to respective application requirements.
