Pepperl+Fuchs has introduced the Tab-IND series of industrial-grade rugged tablets, designed for intralogistics, manufacturing, automotive and field applications where mobile computing equipment must withstand demanding operating conditions while providing long service life and application-specific flexibility.
Available with 8- and 10-inch displays, the tablets are protected against dust and spray water to IP65. Bright displays offering up to 700cd/m², combined with stylus and glove support, enable operation in industrial and outdoor environments. The specified operating temperature range is -20°C to +50°C.
The Tab-IND series is available with Windows 11, while the 10-inch model can also be supplied with Android 15. ThinClient configurations are also offered. Hardware includes a quad-core processor, up to 16GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage, providing a platform for applications including augmented reality (AR) and extended reality (XR).
Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 BLE, 5G and LTE, while front-mounted NFC supports access and identity control. Push-to-Talk over Cellular enables group voice communication, with a programmable button and fingerprint sensor providing additional control and authentication options.
The removable 37.2Wh battery provides up to 14 hours of runtime. Despite their rugged construction, the tablets weigh just over 500g for the 8-inch version and just over 800g for the 10-inch model.
A key feature is Pepperl+Fuchs’ SmartBack system, which allows additional functionality to be mounted on the rear of the tablet. Options include supplementary batteries and application-specific mounts, while customised SmartBack extensions can incorporate interfaces such as Industrial Ethernet or IO-Link.
A dedicated scanner frame supports barcode-based shipment tracking and material or goods picking. Other accessories include vehicle mounts, anti-theft devices, rugged frames, multi-bay charging stations and an IO dock for connecting external devices and displays.
Pepperl+Fuchs is also offering 15- and 22-inch kiosk terminals running Android 15, aimed at applications including access control, information displays and digital workflows.
The Tab-IND series complements the company’s existing Tab-Ex and Smart-Ex ranges for hazardous areas. Pepperl+Fuchs says the new devices have been developed and designed in Europe, with availability of at least five years and software updates intended to support long-term industrial deployments.
