Quantis Testing Services has launched to meet demand for specialist testing services supporting world-leading composites R&D

The Leicestershire business will provide tailored testing programmes for organisations with complex technical requirements for demanding applications, initially within energy and infrastructure.

Quantis, based at Wymeswold Business Quarter, provides access to engineer-led, non-routine testing support to companies in the UK and overseas. It will focus on situations where a recognised test method does not fully address a material, component or operating environment challenge.

Quantis will work with customers to develop practical test approaches and methodologies around specific requirements. Its capability includes specialist equipment for assessing materials in hydrogen environments, such as hydrogen exposure and permeation work, as well as pipe and tank pressure testing.

Peter Hansen, managing director, said, “Many organisations are working with new materials, new operating conditions or applications that do not fit neatly into an existing standard test method. Quantis has been set up to address that gap.

“Our focus is on understanding the engineering application, then developing a robust and proportionate test programme to generate meaningful evidence. That may involve adapting an established approach or creating a new methodology where one does not yet exist.”

Quantis Testing Services is part of Composites Innovation Group (CI Group), bringing together companies to provide end-to-end composites capability. The Quantis launch reinforces CI Group’s ability to support customers requiring specialised testing.

Quantis will work with Hive Composites and other CI Group companies. Hive was founded in 2019 and provides design, prototyping, certification, and consultancy services.
