Rohde & Schwarz has introduced the R&S HMP5050, a five-channel DC power supply designed to deliver greater channel and power density for automated test systems and multichannel applications.
The new instrument is being demonstrated ahead of its official market launch at electronica 2026 in Munich, running from November 10 to 13. It will be available from spring 2027, joining the existing R&S HMP2000 and R&S HMP4000 models.
The R&S HMP5050 provides five independently configurable channels, each delivering up to 15A and 35V, with a maximum output power of 180W per channel. Total output power is rated at 560W. Rohde & Schwarz also highlights improved output quality, with residual ripple specified at less than 350µV RMS.
Channels can be interconnected in series to achieve higher output voltages or in parallel to increase available current. For applications requiring greater power or more channels, multiple instruments can be connected and centrally controlled. This configuration supports systems with up to 64 channels.
Connected instruments synchronise automatically, allowing users to control and analyse individual channels. This is intended to simplify the development of complex power configurations and support applications in which multiple components or circuits must be supplied simultaneously.
The combination of flexible channel configuration, centralised control and low residual ripple makes the R&S HMP5050 suitable for production test systems and other applications requiring precise, multichannel power delivery.
Visitors to electronica 2026 can see the instrument at the Rohde & Schwarz stand, Booth A4.307, where demonstrations will illustrate simultaneous power delivery to multiple circuits and the interconnection of channels.
The announcement comes just a few weeks after R&S introduced its NTS thermoelectric RF power transfer standards to its portfolio of metrological reference solutions.
