Ex STM 515 series robust solenoid interlocks for explosive zones
Sensor and switching company Steute has unveiled its complete series for extreme applications, the Ex STM 515 series. The new compact and robust solenoid interlocks for explosive zones have been added to the company’s safety switchgear portfolio.
The series is being extended to include ‘extreme’ variants of the switchgear, meaning the variant can be used in adverse conditions including dust, dirt, wet, and vibrations.
The key features include a robust die-cast aluminium casing with a long lifetime capable of enduring mechanical wear and tear. A passivation, primer, powder coating offers a high level of corrosion protection.
Active sealing prevents wet and damp from entering the STM 515, granting it protection calss IP66/67. Electrical connections are well protected inside a terminal compartment preventing any damage.
The STM 515 continues to function reliably through conditions such as shocks and vibrations.
Away from the extreme variant, the complete STM 515 series has practical features such as an actuator head. The head can be repositioned by 4 x 90°. It, like other Steute products, has a modular design with diverse additional functions.
Users can select between spring-to-lock and the power-to-lock principle for non-safety related tasks. Users can also opt for an auxiliary release from the access side, as well as an escape release and emergency unlocking from the danger zone.
Bulk good machines and plants with no explosion protection requirement can also benefit from the application of the new Steute STM 515.
