For real-time integrity management of subsea infrastructure
Sonardyne, an underwater technology specialist, has launched Observer, an advanced monitoring system for real-time integrity management of subsea infrastructure across the offshore energy industry
Observer combines high- and low-frequency motion and position monitoring, built-in analytics, and wireless communications to provide live insights into how subsea assets are behaving.
These insights will enable unseen process and environmental challenges, such as pipeline expansion, contraction to vortex, and flow-induced vibration, to be addressed before they become issues, helping to reduce risk and intervention costs and extend asset life.
Observer is ROV-deployable, can interface with a range of third-party sensors, and can be deployed for up to 10 years at 3,000m.

Observer has been designed for use on all subsea assets throughout the water column, including pipelines, risers, mooring, umbilicals, wellheads, and associated infrastructure, to help integrity managers reduce uncertainty and strengthen decision-making.
The system is also easily user-configurable, putting control in asset managers’ hands, and data offloading is available on demand via Sonardyne’s underwater communications.
