TWMA to provide North Sea drilling waste management services

Drilling waste management company TWMA has secured a project with a North Sea operator to provide offshore drilling waste management services for an upcoming drilling campaign in the UK North Sea.

The multi-million-dollar contract will use TWMA’s RotoMill technology and associated equipment.

“We’ve been working in the North Sea for more than two decades and securing new work like this is a strong endorsement of our UK business and our team in Aberdeen,” said TWMA CEO Halle Aslaksen. “It reflects the confidence operators continue to place in our technology, our people and our ability to deliver safely and efficiently in challenging offshore environments.”

By treating drilling waste at source rather than transporting it to shore, the Rotomill reduces vessel movements and associated emissions by up to 50% compared to offshore processing, according to TWMA. The approach is expected to reduce vessel movements and reduce associated CO2e. TWMA will process about 2,000 metric tonnes of drill cuttings per well.

“The UK Continental Shelf remains an important strategic market for TWMA where we have been delivering drilling waste management solutions for more than two decades. This contract reinforces our long-term commitment to operators in the region, helping them manage their drilling waste more safely, efficiently and sustainably,” said Aslaksen.

Mobilisation is scheduled for Q3 2026 and operations commencing for a multi-well campaign in Q4 2026.
