Oceanology International will be held at London ExCel
Battery manufacturer, Ultralife Corporation, will be exhibiting at Oceanology International, held from March 10-12 at ExCel, London
Ultralife will be at stand L610 demonstrating its subsea battery packs. At the stand, its technical team will be available to discuss power solutions for oil and gas applications, such as Logging While Drilling (LWD), Measurement While Drilling (MWD), and Pipeline Inspection Gauges (PIGs).
The SeaSafe Endurance battery module is an easy-to-configure battery system created to fit inside pressure vessels. The module has recently been upgraded to provide 12% more capacity and can support long-duration missions, making it suitable for applications including autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs), oil and gas applications, and oceanographic equipment.
SeaSafe Endurance will be on display on Ultralife’s stand behind the exhibitor lounge and near the main entrance, where Prevco Subsea Housings will be displaying pressure vessels containing the battery on stand D30.
Stephen Ashley, technical sales manager at Prevco Subsea, said, “The SeaSafe Endurance battery appealed to us because each battery fits neatly into half of one of our pressure vessels. Where more power is required, another battery can be placed on top to fill the vessel, or additional batteries can be placed in adjacent vessels and connected. Also, the batteries are available in 24V, 30V, and 37V configurations, and can be connected in series or parallel, allowing them to support a wide range of voltage and power requirements of vehicles or equipment.”
Leon Adams, VP of Sales and Marketing at Ultralife, said, “Prevco is an ideal partner for us because the SeaSafe Endurance battery requires a pressure vessel for underwater use. Prevco manufactures vessels out of a diverse range of materials, from PVC and Aluminium to Titanium Grade 5 or AL7075, allowing them to support everything from shallow-water observation ROVs or monitoring equipment to deep-sea exploration AUVs.”
Ultralife is also set to showcase pressure-tolerant subsea battery modules capable of operating at 6,000 meters without a pressure vessel. These are SeaSafe Direct, which can be placed directly in water, and SeaSafe II, which is suitable for pressure-balanced oil-filled cases.
These battery modules are modular building blocks for battery systems, enabling operators to connect them in series or parallel to provide the required voltage or capacity/current. All SeaSafe batteries provide 4 times longer runtime compared to sealed lead-acid (SLA) batteries and 100% condition-based and safety monitoring with an integrated battery management system.
Ultralife also offers end-to-end, mission-critical power for oil and gas customers that combines primary battery cell manufacturing, custom rechargeable and non-rechargeable battery packs, pressure-tolerant subsea systems, downhole (MWD/LWD) and pipeline inspection power, and hazardous-area certification support.
