Unity targets APAC P&A market with Reservoir Link partnership

Three-well rigless intervention project being delivered by Unity and Reservoir Link for a major international offshore operator in Malaysia.

Unity, specialists in well integrity and decommissioning, has entered the Asia Pacific market, securing its first significant contract in partnership with Reservoir Link. The two will jointly deliver a three-well rigless intervention programme for an offshore operator in Malaysia

Reservoir Link is a provider of well intervention and energy services in Malaysia. Operating from its bases at the Asian Supply Base and the Kemaman Supply Base, it supports upstream oil and gas activities across Malaysia and the wider Southeast Asian region.

Unity’s proprietary Surface Intervention System (SIS) will be deployed across the three wells during the campaign. The lightweight, compact solution can execute wellhead integrity repairs, production restoration, and early-phase P&A preparation without requiring a traditional intervention spread. Proven over more than 20 deployments, it has consistently delivered on assets where conventional vessel-based wireline or hydraulic workover support would add high cost and logistical complexity.

Stuart Slater, region manager Asia-Pacific at Unity, said, “The constraints operators face across South-East Asia are ones we have been solving in the North Sea and Denmark with SIS for more than a decade. It was developed for conditions such as small platforms, limited crane capacity, ageing wellheads and tight personnel-on-board restrictions. By removing the need for a support vessel entirely, it delivers significant cost savings.

“Our partnership with Reservoir Link marks the start of a new chapter for well intervention in South East Asia. Together, we bring complementary strengths to the region, such as in-country presence, locally based equipment and a shared commitment to helping operators keep decommissioning on track. We look forward to delivering our first campaign together.”

Dato’ Wan Hassan Bin Mohd Jamil, group chief executive officer / managing director of Reservoir Link, said, “We are pleased to partner with Unity in introducing its proven Surface Intervention System (SIS) technology to the Malaysian market. As operators increasingly seek safe, efficient and cost-effective solutions to address ageing well infrastructure and future decommissioning requirements, this collaboration combines Unity’s innovative technology with Reservoir Link’s local execution capabilities and established customer relationships.

“Malaysia represents a significant opportunity for rigless well intervention and plug and abandonment activities, where mature assets continue to drive demand for specialised services. Together, we are well-positioned to support operators in extending asset life, improving operational efficiency and advancing responsible decommissioning initiatives across the region.”
