Structalit 5859 has been developed for magnet bonding
Panacol has brought Structalit 5859 to market, a new adhesive system developed by Panacol specifically for magnet bonding. Both magnet and rotor bonding as well as joining magnets in pole housings can be achieved using the adhesive.
Structalit 5859 is a one-component epoxy resin adhesive. The resin has a curing time of only 5 minutes when heated at 150 °C, and can be cured at temperatures of 100 °C. The product can be processed at room temperature for seven days and has a long open time.
On steel, the Structalit 5859 has a tensile shear strength of 17 MPas due to its high glass transition temperature (Tg) of 143 °C. The adhesive has a high impact strength and good elongation at break, allowing its use with material pairings that have different coefficients of thermal expansion.
The resin also has good gap bridging to compensate for production-related tolerances whilst also being resistant to aggressive contact media including oil or coolant. It also has good damping properties.
Panacol will be present at Coiltech in Augsburg, Germany on March 26th and 27th to showcase its range of products and new resins. Representatives will be present at Hall 5 Stand G 28 to discuss adhesive developments from the company.
