Sandvik has agreed to supply gold producer Northern Star Resources with 25 units of underground equipment to support its operations in Western Australia.
“Keeping underground production moving depends on both equipment performance and the support behind it,” said Craig Johnston, VP, Sales Area Australia and New Zealand, Sandvik Mining. “Our local teams will continue working closely with Northern Star throughout equipment delivery, commissioning and ongoing lifecycle management.”
The order includes 14 Toro LH621i loaders, 10 Toro TH663i trucks and a Sandvik DD422i development jumbo. Toro TH663i and Toro LH621i are engineered for the most demanding underground mining environments. They offer advanced connectivity, real-time analytics, automation readiness and superior maintainability, enabling high payloads, lower operating cost per ton and safer work sites.
Northern Star Resources operates several open pit and underground gold mines across three production centers: Kalgoorlie and Yandal in Western Australia, and Pogo in Alaska, USA. Once there, the equipment will be operated and maintained by Northern Star Mining Services (NSMS), Northern Star Resources’ wholly owned in-house mining services division.
Deliveries are expected to begin in June 2027 and continue through early 2028.
Last month, Sandvik began expanding rock drill manufacturing capacity at its Tampere manufacturing site.
