The printer has 12x larger build volume
Additive manufacturing OEM Addup has launched its ‘massif’ additive manufacturing machine, standing for metal additive system, sustainable, industrial, eco-friendly. Large-format metal AM powder bed fusion (PBF), measuring up to 1.5m x 1.5m x 2m, is supported by Addup’s new machine which aims to support technological advancements.
Productivity, cost reduction, and meeting sustainability goals are all targets of the printer which has a print volume of 750mm x 750mm x 1m.
The massif machine can increase productivity by up to 300%, potentially reducing part costs by 50-70%. It also has a large build volume, being able to build parts 12 times larger than current AddUp machines, with 10% less powder waste. The machine is powered by decarbonated energy to meet sustainability goals.
High-quality parts are possible straight off the printer, using AddUps propoetary technology to deliver ‘best-in-class’ surface finishes minimising needs for post-processing. Its in-processing monitoring system allows usrs to check parts are being printed correctly to minimise waste and reducing the need for quality assurance testing.

The machine has been created from the foundation laid by the FormUp 350, a reliable and precise platform designed for challenging industrial environments. The FormUp 350 had high throughput allowing it to function in serial production in areas such as medical implants, satellites, and aerospace parts.
Cailabs, Cetim, Dassault Systemes, ISP systems, and Vistory will develop the machine in collaboration together as the project supports wider industry aims to innovate technology for industrial use.
