Quality control and product safety created by sensitive and precise weighing
Precision instruments and product inspection technology company Mettler-Toledo has launched a checkweighing and metal detection (CM), and a checkweighing and x-ray (CX) combination system. These systems integrate the M30 R-Series metal detectors and X2 Series of x-ray inspection systems with high-precision C-Series checkweighers.
Critical control points (CCPs) are created by integrating precision weighing with contamination detection. This two-in-one CCP combines the CM and CX systems to simplify operations while also allowing for a space-saving design, reducing ownership costs. An added layer of detection sensitivity is granted by the X2 Series and M30 R-Series.
M30 R-series’ advanced metal detectors are combined with the precision weighing capabilities of the C-Series to create the CM combination system. These deliver accurate and precise weight measurements and comply with regulatory requirements.
Integration with existing production lines is possible owing to the CM’s intuitive user interfaces and advanced data management capabilities. FlashCell loading cell technology can be added onto the CM to provide higher product throughputs for high-end applications.
Joern Migge, head of product and market management, Mettler-Toledo, said: “We are excited to introduce the new CM and CX Combination Systems to our customers. These innovative solutions provide unparalleled flexibility, enhanced efficiency and significant cost savings. By integrating the latest M30 R-Series metal detectors and X2 Series x-ray inspection systems, we are able to deliver maximum protection and quality assurance for our customers' products."
The metal detectors are developed to sense ferrous and non-ferrous materials such as aluminium and stainless-steel contaminants. This allows for optimisation in both wet and dry conditions. False reject rates and small contaminants detection are enhanced by using advanced signal processing and intelligent detection algorithms.
Quality control is created in the CX combination system by combining C-Series high-precision checkweighers with X2 Series x-ray inspection systems, which feature ContamPlus software. ContamPlus software runs over 30 inspection algorithms which pick up on foreign bodies.
HiGain detector technology is implemented to give sharper images to provide greater contamination detection. This system can detect metal, glass, stone, calcified bone and high-density plastics. The detector can also perform quality control checks to assess if products are missing or broken.
Design features, such as enabling belt and curtain removal without tools in under five minutes, allow for easy operation. Interface design features help further simplify operations. Smart Catch Bin can be added to the device to enhance safety and efficiency. Vision inspection technology can also be added to the system.
Human Machine Interface (HMI) allows for one-touch operation, as well as displaying contamination and detection stats and status. This minimises the risk of user error and reduces operator training requirements.
ProdX, a production inspection management software, can be connected to both combination systems. This allows for real-time monitoring and full digital management of product inspection equipment.
