Danfoss Power Solutions launches new DM-Qt series of displays

New displays offers increased design flexibility and faster time to market

Danfoss Power Solutions will expand its DM series of programmable displays with the launch of its DM-Qt series. The series supports Qt as a plug-in to PLUS+1 Guide, and user interface (UI) can now be changed through the Qt framework.

The company is looking to create a new standard of embedded display user interface. The ease of use allows for displays to be easily programmed, reducing the time it takes to reach market.  

Previous templates across device platforms and display brands can be reused using Qt tools, with elements of the UI design being scalable for each application requirement. By doing this, there is no need to create new UI designs from scratch for each machine platform of display manufacturer, reducing lead times and speeding up the process.

Herman Oberoi, senior portfolio manager at Danfoss Power Solutions, said: “Designing graphical user interfaces for our DM displays using Qt tools should take about half as much time as it would with other programs due to its extensive library of preexisting elements and a seamless workflow between design and development. By supporting the industry standard solution for UI development, we now have a great hardware product with incredible design capabilities powered by Qt.”

Graphical development in Qt Design Studio is enabled through DM-Qt displays. Danfloss’ PLUS+1 Guide software and the PLUS+1 Service Tool manage the application programming, and they combine Qt-created graphics with application code to program DM-Qt displays.

Danfoss will still offer its standard DM displays with UI design managed in VBSE, that being Danfoss’ proprietary graphics development tool inside the PLUS+1 guide programme.

The same sizes and options are available in the DM-Qt displays as the standard DM displays, featuring sizes such as 7-inch, 10-inch, and 12-inch displays. The displays have good sunlight and wide-angel viewability, automatic brightness adjustment, high level touch responsiveness, and rugged design with high ingress protection ratings.
