Delta has expanded its industrial automation solutions portfolio
Switching power supplies and thermal management company Delta has launched its new AX-5 modules designed to enhance industrial automation. The AX-5 has a slim profile to give up to 50% space savings in control cabinets compared to traditional I/O module series.
The user-friendly installation process is consistent across the series with DIN rail clips and removable front connectors, simplified and streamlined wiring with printed diagrams, and high levels of flexibility through isolated power supply modules.
Simone Orlandi, product manager, industrial automation business group, Delta EMEA said: "At Delta, we have developed the new AX-5 I/O module series especially for for applications requiring higher performance, smaller size, and a user-friendly I/O system.”
A diverse range of needs can be met by the AX-5 because of its fast response times and broad network compatibility enabling machine builders, system integrators and distribution across various industrial sectors.
A width of 12mm per module reduces the space required in electrical cabinets. Flexible installation is possible as I/Os are separated into different electrically isolated groups, simplifying troubleshooting and reducing system downtime. This results in enhanced reliability and availability.
Each connector is removable for each module, creating a simpler wiring process and reduced replacement effort. User manual references are obsolete as wire diagrams are printed onto the side of each module.
DIN rail clips allow for a straightforward installation of modules as the design enables rapid and effortless setup, providing high levels of stability on the DIN rail. Commissioning is sped up by streamlining installation processes, reduces labour costs, and enhances system planning flexibility.
Fast response times and EtherCAT fieldbus for reliable and efficient data communication are supported to enable AX-5 to be used in time-critical applications. EtherCAT hot connection and distribution clock features are supported to give flexibility and precise synchronisation.
Profinet and Ethernet/IP will soon be incorporated into the AX-5 through dedicated couplers to bring broader integration into various network infrastructures. Delta controllers as well as other third-party controllers can be used on the AX-5 for further existing system integration.
Orlandi added: "Together with the AX-5 I/O series, we increase the scalability of EtherCAT I/O solutions and offer more options to our customers in a wide range of markets, such as packaging, assembly, material handling, robotics, and woodworking."
