Donaldson clarifies its filter bags are compliant with EU food-grade requirements

The labelling of previous bags had led to some customers being confused, but Donaldson has updated its range to reassure all customers their product is up to EU standards.

Donaldson has publicly confirmed all materials used in its bags are safe for food use. It has announced compliance with the necessary regulations, those being Regulation EC 1935/2004, Regulation EU 10/2011 and Regulation EU 2023/2006. The bags are suitable for such foods including corn, spices, cereals, milk, sugar and flour, as well as fruit and coffee powders.

Darek Kotowski, Engineer II, IAF AM, Donaldson Europe said: “By demonstrating that we have in-depth knowledge of the regulations while providing all required information and a declaration of compliance with each bag, we ensure our end-customers have peace of mind.

“We and our suppliers must not only undertake extensive cleaning and sanitation procedures at our production plants but also ensure our employees take the necessary personal hygiene measures after being trained to enter and work in the clean room where these products are manufactured.”

The Dalamatic bags come in three different sizes, ranging from 0.7m2 to 2m2 to accommodate different customers' needs. The bags are manufactured in the Czech Republic using individually certified complaint cuffs, main media and thread.

Tetratex Contact filter bags come lined with an ePTFE membrane that can withstand a range of temperatures, up to 150°C, and chemicals. These are also available in an anti-static form to prevent hazardous static charges from occurring, reducing the risk of any malpractice.

Polyester Oleophobic Anti-Static bags are also available, all offering heat resistance up to 135 °C, whilst also offering electrical resistance of up to 10^8 Ω. These bags are well suited to pet food applications, as its oleo/hydro treatment aids dust cake release in oily or moisture-sensitive products. Dura-Life bags also over the same temperature resistances, but have the added benefit of being resistant to acidic and weak alkaline conditions.

Compliance with Regulation EU 2023/2006 means absolute confidence in Good Manufacturing Practises (GMP) are being followed at every step of the process, and all bags are inherently food-safe.
