High inrush variant improved in Omron’s new power relay range

G5Q-HR joins the G5Q family of 10A PCB power relays

European electronics components manufacturer Omron has launched its new G5Q-HR relay with reduced heat and power consumption, it is also 45% smaller than previous 16A relays. Lighting controllers, smart plugs, home appliances, power supplies and any applications requiring high inrush current are suitable for the G5Q-HR.

The low power consumption is created by maintaining the contact 'on' state with one pulse of current. Coil power consumption is reduced by 99.9% when compared with single-side stable relays according to Omron. This same process also helps reduce heat output, giving the device more longevity and more efficiency.

Testing has been completed to ensure the G5Q-HR can last a minimum of 25,000 cycles, in line with TV-8 certification. Further testing of UL electronic ballast rating at 3A 277VAC and 5A 277VAC over 6,000 cycles along with IEC60669-1 at 3A 250VAC over 5,000 cycles. The relay is compliant with high input standards, such as lighting and power supplies that exceed 100A.

The G5Q-HR joins the G5Q family of 10A PCB power relays. Omron customers requested a more compact design and energy performance for 10A applications, leading to this latest development. The relay is 45% smaller than previous products, measuring 20.3 mm (L) x 10.3 mm (W) x 15.8 mm (H), becoming Omron’s smallest TV-8 product.

Downsising equipment designs and opening up new printed circuit board configurations are now possible owing to the reduced design. G5Q-HR is Omron’s only TV-8 standard product at 10A class.
