Chartek One was unveiled at Gas Tech 2025
AkzoNobel's protective coating brand, International, has unveiled its epoxy passive fire protection (PFP), Chartek One, at GasTech 2025, following its launch in the Middle East last year
Chartek One is a single coat, mesh-free solution, simplifying PFP application for resources in the energy sector.
The product provides three hours of jet and pool fire protection across a vast operating temperature range, shielding resources against different types of fires, including cryogenic and hydrocarbon fires, whilst also providing corrosion resistance.
Chartek One's 100% solids formula is boron-free and contains zero chlorinated plasticisers, reducing occupational risks and minimising environmental impact.
The mesh-free design means there is no longer a need for reinforcement in hydrocarbon pool and jet fire protection, including in high-heat-flux jet fires. This simplifies PFP system installation in the workshop and onsite, lowering installed weight, reducing labour and costs, without any loss of protection.
Chartek One is certified to match high standards within the industry, including Norsok M-501 Revision 7, ISO 21843, ISO 22899 and UL1709 Edition 5.
Chartek One has also undergone testing beyond industry standards, including performance trials under jet fire exposure, loaded beams after external weathering, and termination detailing, allowing AkzoNobel to give its customers assurance that the protection it provides has been proven in both the laboratory and in the field.
