Enables high-sensitivity magnetic field sensing with 1.5 µA current draw

Littelfuse, an industrial technology manufacturing company, has introduced the TX00AS314TRA Omnipolar TMR Switch Sensor, a high-performance magnetic sensing solution designed for fast response, high sensitivity, and ultra-low power operation in compact, battery-powered applications

The TX00AS314TRA combines a precision Tunnel Magnetoresistance (TMR) sensing element with CMOS signal-processing circuitry, including an on-chip voltage generator, low-noise amplifier, comparator, and Schmitt trigger, to provide accurate switching, strong noise immunity, and thermal stability.

The device includes X-axis magnetic sensing, enabling detection of magnetic fields parallel to the sensor surface, facilitating greater mechanical design flexibility. It operates at a typical supply current of 1.5 µA while supporting high-speed detection up to 1kHz, enabling reliable sensing in dynamic, always-on systems.

The TX00AS314TRA features omnipolar detection, allowing it to respond to North and South magnetic poles. This simplifies magnet alignment, reduces mechanical constraints, and accelerates system design. Its precise operate and release thresholds and built-in hysteresis ensure clean, bounce-free switching even in electrically noisy environments.

Julius Venckus, sensors global products manager at Littelfuse, said, “The TX00AS314TRA delivers a meaningful advancement in magnetic sensing efficiency. By combining omnipolar sensing with ultra-low 1.5µA power consumption, it enables engineers to design smaller, longer-lasting systems while simplifying mechanical and electrical design challenges.”

Features and benefits include:

  • Ultra-low power consumption extends battery life in always-on systems.
  • High sensitivity enables reliable detection with small magnets.
  • Omnipolar sensing simplifies design and reduces alignment requirements.
  • Fast response supports dynamic and rotational sensing.
  • Integrated signal conditioning and hysteresis enhance noise immunity and switching stability.
  • Compact SOT-23-3 package supports space-constrained designs.

The TX00AS314TRA is suitable for applications requiring low power, high reliability, and compct form factors, including:

  • Building and home automation (smart meters with tamper detection, position and limit sensing)
  • Industrial automation (proximity sensing}
  • Consumer electronics (appliances, power tools, battery-powered IoT and wearable devices)
  • Utilities (gas, water, and heat metering)

Enabling precise magnetic detection with minimal power draw allows the device to help engineers design smaller, smarter, and longer-lasting products while reducing maintenance requirements and enhancing system reliability.
