The line allows products to be tested reliably and automatically
The Mela demonstration line, developed by Montech, VisionLink, Mechatronic and Lexter Italia, showcases how products can be examined precisely and automatically
Traditionally, food quality control has been conducted by eye, requiring the removal of each product from the box individually in some circumstances, and decisions made based on the examiner's experience.
At the SPS Italia 2025 trade fair in Parma, Montech and its partners unveiled a method for providing objective quality control that is both seamless and efficient, even when examining sensitive products.
Using an apple Mela demonstrated how modern conveyor technology is evolving into a central component for intelligent quality control. Nine test stations analysed a broad range of a product's characteristics, from surface structure to volume; the whole process is automatic.
Montech's LTE transfer system provides Mela with coordinated conveyor technology, transporting products through all stations to ensure they remain in the correct position, guided by mechanical supports on the pallets.
The line has been designed to allow processes to be adapted, extended, or integrated into existing environments.
The Mela demonstration line turns experience into structured digital processes, using cameras for visual inspections instead of human eyes, and evaluating based on data. With the highest product quality as its priority, it provides a glimpse into the future of quality control.
