LDS by HBK's new XPA-K Remote Diagnostics feature for the LDS V8000 electrodynamic shaker system, to help test labs maximise uptime, minimise costs, and cope with evolving cybersecurity requirements
XPA-K Remote Diagnostics enables service engineers to monitor and analyse a shaker system's performance, allowing issues to be resolved without an on-site visit.
Marcel Van Helten, project director at LDS by HBK, said, “For our customers, uptime and data security are equally important. XPA-K provides the tools to keep shaker systems running smoothly while ensuring compliance with the strictest cybersecurity standards.”
The system continuously tracks parameters such as armature displacement, coil temperatures, current draw, and amplifier performance, with automated alerts notifying users and the LDS service team of any anomalies, including phase balance deviation or overheating, enabling engineers to access diagnostic logs, then perform root cause analysis and, in some cases, guide corrective action.
XPA-K Remote Diagnostics employs firewalls, VPN tunnelling, encryption, and role-based access control to protect sensitive test data. It is aligned with the IEC 62443 and ISO 27001 frameworks and is future-proofed for compliance with the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), which is set to be implemented across Europe and the UK in 2027.
Test labs can lower their total cost of ownership and reduce their carbon footprint by eliminating unnecessary emergency call-outs and site visits, as well as automating monthly reports, system usage logs, and proactive service calls, which further support predictive maintenance strategies.
Van Helten added, “As test environments become more complex, intelligent monitoring tools like XPA-K are becoming indispensable. This capability gives labs the confidence that their equipment is performing reliably, securely, and efficiently."
