New ZX 300e achieved 21-200m wind lidar IEC Classification

ZX Lidars has released the ZX 300e which meets the IEC 61400-50-2 standard

ZX Lidars has released the ZX 300e with a 21-200m IEC Classification at independent test sites of wind engineering consultants, achieving final accuracy class and standard uncertainty of 0% at all heights

The ZX 300e meets the IEC 61400-50-2 standard, exhibiting no significant environmental variables, making the ZX Lidar acceptable for the wide range of wind campaigns and applications, including site calibration, resource assessment, and power curve measurements.

For the first time in the industry, an IEC Classification has been achieved on data measured up to 200m from ground level, as well as data down to 21m.

The ZX 300e features enhanced wind data, utilising Continuous Wave wind Lidar algorithms for improved accuracy, wind direction sensing, data availability, and Cup-Equivalent Turbulence Intensity. Power supply fuel can be better preserved due to reduced power consumption of 44W, even at -25°C. A web-based User Interface supports both local and remote, multi-user access, as well as system status checks.

In addition to the IEC Classification, a fleet of ZX 300e units has been verified using 'Midar' technology, a novel mast and Lidar approach in which a vertical-profiling Lidar mounted to a 91m mast extends traceable reference measurements above the mast itself, up to 300m.

The results revealed correlation slopes consistently within ±1%, R² greater than 0.985. 99.8-94.2% availability was consistently achieved from 20-300m, at 250m data availability exceeded 96%, and at 300m it remained above 94%, with correlation slopes within ±1.1% and R² values, again, remaining greater than 0.985.
