The bidirectional contactor can support current and future power classes for MCS high-power DC charging
Schaltbau, an expert in DC technology solutions, has made its C330 megawatt charging contactor available for order. The bidirectional contactor can support both current and future power classes for MCS high-power DC charging
Schaltbau is set to showcase the C330 at The Battery Show Europe in Stuttgart from June 9 to 11, 2026, and at Power2Drive in Munich from June 23 to 25, 2026.
Helmut Pusch, CEO of Schaltbau GmbH Group, said, “The transition to heavy-duty electric mobility requires charging infrastructure that delivers both high power and dependable operation. The C330 megawatt charging contactor can safely switch the power levels required to recharge commercial vehicles within a typical driver break. With the C330, we enable customers to develop, equip and scale future-ready high-power charging systems that maximise charger availability, reduce costly downtime, and improve fleet utilisation and total cost of ownership."
The Eddicy C330 is a single-pole, bidirectional DC contactor and the industry’s first rated for up to 1,500V and continuous currents of up to 3,000A. Featuring silver contact pills and a contact system, the C330 achieves a contact resistance of 40µOhm. This reduces contact heating, power losses, and cooling requirements. With separate contact systems for switching and current carrying, the C330 can protect the main current path from the negative effects of electrical arcing, providing safety, endurance, and longevity.
The bidirectional contactor includes an open-air isolation concept with permanent magnetic arc blow-out that can prevent rupture under the most severe failure conditions. It can withstand short-circuit currents up to 30,000A for 5ms without rupturing or damaging surrounding components.
The Eddicy C330 has been developed for use in charging stations, energy storage systems and photovoltaic applications. CE, CCC, and UL certifications are underway and expected by September 2026.
The Eddicy C330 contactor and Schaltbau’s experts will be at:
