Aluminium has been added as an option to the line
SPIROL has increased its range of press-ins by introducing aluminium press-ins to the range, featuring the symmetrical series INS 50 and the headed INS 51. The new aluminium inserts add to the existing brass line.
Threads are reusable within a bolted assembly when used with threaded inserts, which are also essential for reinforcing plastic components. This both prevents plastic creep over time, which could compromise the performance of the assembly, and ensures a proper seating torque.
Both performance and cost are optimised by the inserts, by design, and are available in a variety of options, having been tailored to different performance requirements and installation methods.
SPIROL’s INS 50 and INS 51 are designed to be pressed-in without using heat and are intended to provide the lowest cost to install. They provide an acceptable joint performance for a range of applications.
Brass is still the industry standard, thanks to its material properties, 2024 aluminium does offer an alternative due to its lightweight advantages, being just a third of the weight. The 2024 aluminium grade is free of lead, resolving growing environmental health and safety concerns attached to lead content in machined products.
A broader spectrum of options is given through the galvanic properties between aluminium and brass, which caters to a diverse range of application needs.
