Vision Engineering, a specialist in optical inspection and metrology, has unveiled EVO Cam AURA, its new digital microscope platform for industrial inspection, quality control, and laboratory analysis, succeeding EVO Cam II
EVO Cam II built its reputation as a fast, reliable Full HD workhorse. EVO Cam AURA shifts the range to true 4K imaging and combines inspection, measurement, and reporting into one continuous, on-screen workflow.
What’s new
4K imaging resolves fine detail, such as cell boundaries, hairline cracks, contamination, and pad geometry, at the level modern components require. Bespoke optics and optical zoom take operators from overview to close detail without changing the lens, while integrated autofocus and focus stacking enable uneven or complex parts to be viewed in sharp focus.
AURA software puts zoom, focus, lighting, image control, capture, measurement, and analysis in one interface, keeping operators in the workflow from live image to documented result. Intelligent auto-recognition keeps magnification and measurement scaling correct, lighting recall restores settings when the ringlight changes, and metadata-based comparison can match live images to a golden sample. Additionally, Supervisor Mode locks down critical parameters, and presets can be shared across systems and sites to keep results consistent.

Built-in productivity tools include:

- Curtain and synchronised comparison modes
- Customisable go/no-go overlays built into presets
Annotation and calibrated measurement also sit in the same interface, enabling images to carry annotations, measurements, metadata, and timestamps automatically.
EVO Cam AURA is available in three models, 4K Touch, 4K and HD, with a choice of illumination, objectives, stands and connectivity. It can operate standalone without requiring a PC, connects via WiFi or LAN, and can support live streaming for remote oversight.
Secure variants of all three models are suitable for restricted environments where wireless connectivity, Bluetooth, or removable storage cannot be permitted. An optional Oblique and Direct Viewer (ODV) accessory extends the range to angled inspection of connectors and assemblies.
Built to seamlessly replace EVO Cam II
In electronics, 4K imaging can resolve solder joints and pad geometry as board density increases, with focus stacking capturing depth across uneven assemblies.
In automotive and precision engineering, customisable presets reduce changeover time on high-mix lines, whereas in aerospace and defence, metadata- and timestamp-embedded images create audit-ready records, with secure variants for facilities where connectivity is not permitted.
In medical device manufacturing, consistent, repeatable inspection supports components such as catheters and stents that have traceable records saved directly to the network.
In research and laboratory, shareable enhancement controls enable results to remain consistent between sessions and sites, with streaming for real-time discussion between locations.
