Pressure regulators available in larger sizes

Hoerbiger-Origa is introducing larger versions of its Airfit Control range of proportional pressure regulators

Hoerbiger-Origa is extending its Airfit Control range of proportional pressure regulators with new models that, the company says, for the first time bring truly dynamic control and precise regulation to applications requiring large and rapidly changing pressure differences, high flow rates, or extremes in input or output pressures.

Combining advanced electronics with an innovative twin poppet valve configuration, the new models extend the Airfit range into a host of new applications, delivering high performance and fast response times.

The Airfit SRE and CRE Control pressure regulators cover size ranges from 0.25inch (G 1/4) to 2inch (G2) in a single range, meeting the needs of a wide spread of applications without compromise. They deliver precise and reliable pressure regulation in demanding applications where there may be high temperatures, high levels of vibration or high levels of contamination.

Airfit regulators are constructed using two-directional valves for converting electrical pulses into pilot pressure. This forced ventilation of the pilot chamber means there is no permanent air consumption, and the quantity of air pressure required during the regulation process is extremely low. Furthermore, the self-regulating seal between the pilot chamber and the output avoids stick-slip. The result is a design that combines precise control with high dynamics, while offering an extremely long and reliable service life.

Eight variants in the extended Airfit range cover input pressures up to 16bar, while the elimination of stick-slip means the products will operate reliably at very low input pressures. Even with fluctuating input pressures, the SRE and CRE Airfit Control series will offer precisely regulated outputs of 0-10bar. The innovative design also allows the products to deliver reliable regulation at high flow rates of up to 40,000 l/min. All of this comes in a highly compact design that will meet the needs of applications where space is at a premium.

The regulators are controlled via a PLC or potentiometer, with either 0-10V, 0-20mA or 4-20mA analogue signals. Environmental protection is to IP54 as standard, increased to IP65 where required.

Suitable for use with compressed air and gases such as oxygen, nitrogen and various inert gases, the Airfit Control proportional pressure regulators are precise, dynamic and reliable in applications including: metering and mixing of fluids; band-edge control of conveyor belts and wrapping systems; tension regulation; laser cutting; welding; vacuum generation; driving air motors and air tools; weight compensation for handling tools; grinding and polishing; milling; and welding.
