Striking a fair balance of risk

Institution of Chemical Engineer (IChemE) is an international
professional membership organisation for people who have an interest and
relevant experience in chemical and biochemical engineering.

For more than 40 years, published Forms of Contract written specifically for
the process industries which ultimately lead to the promotion of teamwork.
Their aims are to share a fair balance of risk between purchaser and
contractor depending on the chosen payment mechanism. Process industry
contracts are performance based this is recognised as a central theme in
Forms of Contract suite. Their success is demonstrated by extensive use not
only in the process industries, but also in an increasingly wide range of
industries both in the UK and internationally.

Benefits include:

* A reputation for achieving successful outcomes.
* Good returns on capital invested.
* Engendering best practice in project delivery.

International versions of the existing Lump Sum, Reimbursable, Target Cost
and Subcontract are now available. As a significant number of countries are
now developing a process industry for the first time, it is appropriate that
IChemE publishes a suite of forms for international contracts. Supporting
IChemE’s commitment to promoting best practice around the world, these new
contracts build on the success of the existing suite.
