Platform strengthening with front end design service

To evaluate the multi-planar joints, some overlapping, a detailed finite element model was setup in Abaqus, the world’s leading technology suite for
general-purpose, nonlinear finite element analysis. In terms of loading, each tubular
sub-member of the joints (chord and brace) is further subjected to complex combinations of axial loading, in-plane bending, out-plane bending and torsion.
The results consistently showed across the various load combinations significant increases in strengths and load carrying capacity are achievable with Ducorit
in-filled tubular members.
Densit’s Ducorit products also bond extremely well to steel surfaces making reinforcement of structures using grouted clamps a very useful solution within Densit’s portfolio of services. Recently in Sarawak Malaysia, Densit was contracted to develop a repair strategy for the mitigation of damaged platform structural members due to vessel impact on a jacket structure.
Based on the finding from the initial inspection, Densit designed and had fabricated three clamps and two new replacement members to be grouted with Ducorit. In addition to the clamp installation, DucoritS5 was specified to restore the full structural capacity of five members that had been partially damaged.
Densit’s engineers supervised the removal of the damaged members and grouted the new members in place. Twenty-four hours after the member grouting, the clamps were then installed to connect the new members and reinforce the weakened joints.
DucoritD4 was pumped into the clamps to make the final connections between the new and existing members. The use of Densit Ultra High Performance Cementitious (UHPC) grouted clamps and members results in a fast, reliable and structurally sound solution for the repair of damaged structures in the offshore environment.
These examples demonstrate how Densit’s engineers are using Engineered UHPC solutions to solve clients’ structural integrity issues.o
