Celeros flow technology’s new noise attenuation trim helps enhance equipment, extend operational lifespan and comply with noise exposure limits

To enhance equipment performance, extend operational lifespan and comply with noise exposure limits in power generation and other industrial applications, noise and vibration need to be controlled

Celeros FT's new noise attenuation trim, developed by Copes-Vulcan (a Celeros FT brand), takes into account these issues and creates opportunities for smaller valves to be used, helping to reduce costs without sacrificing performance.

Pedro Flores-Castillo, product development manager at Copes-Vulcan, explained the incentive behind the new trim: "As a global lifecycle partner,  we are dedicated to supporting customers at every stage of their operations. Managing noise and vibration effectively improves equipment performance, enhances operational integrity and ensures long-term reliability."

He added: "The Noise Attenuation Trim has been developed to enable more compact, cost-efficient flow control, while reducing wear and tear caused by noise and vibration. This not only boosts overall efficiency but also helps reduce energy consumption, leading to lower operational costs for plant owners and operators."

Noise reduction is cost reduction

The noise attenuation trim is precision-engineered to deliver advanced noise attenuation, superior control of vibration, and optimised flow capacity thanks to its innovative design (patent pending).

Its unique flow pattern has been specially developed, tested and proven in the field using the latest digital modelling techniques to ensure the highest efficiency.

A specific expansion factor helps fluid expansion and finer velocity control, and the impact of thermal expansion is mitigated through meticulous materials specification.

The valves are ready for even the most demanding applications. Their design enables them to handle thermal solar power plants, where daily thermal contraction and expansion cycles can quickly degrade standard valves.

The trim is engineered with the latest technology, ensuring durability and longevity, maintaining outstanding noise attenuation without any loss of capacity.

The trim will perform better for longer with reduced maintenance, optimised uptime, and lowered total cost of ownership. Additionally, the efficient design means that smaller valves can be specified, especially important for plants where space is at a premium.

Replacing larger piping and infrastructure with smaller valves allows for a more compact and competitive package with lower installation costs.

No more vibrations

The new trim can help to meet both statutory noise exposure requirements and Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations.

Reduced noise levels mean operators can work safely near valves for longer without any additional noise barriers.

Upgrades made easier

The noise attenuation trim is designed to be used with the Copes-Vulcan range of direct steam conditioning valves (DSCV-SA/SR), offering power plant operators and industrial users a practical and effective way to reduce noise in larger conventional power stations.
Existing DSCV-SA valves can be easily upgraded because the trim cartridge is designed to fit seamlessly.
