Halter CNC Automation unveils entry-level industrial robot cell

Robot cell is usable for automating machine tool tending

Dutch company Halter CNC Automation has unveiled its entry-level industrial robot cell for automating machine tool tending, the Halter Basic Pro, currently available in England, Scotland, and Wales via 1st Machine Tool Accessories based in Salisbury.

The Basic Pro features a 6-axis industrial robot to offer a competitive automation solution. Halter has worked closely with suppliers and partners to maintain high technology and reliability, using user-friendly touchscreen SmartControl.

Regardless of whether a work piece has been previously handled, the changeover time to start a new production process is a matter of minutes. The operator does not need expertise in robot programming to use the console, which is carried out while the machining of the previous parts is in progress, maximising production output.

Retrofitting is possible due to the plug-and-play features, allowing it to work with both new and old machines, as well as a range of control types. It uses a floor level, 270-degree laser scanner, to provide safety. The robot slows if an operator approaches and performs an immediate stop if the light curtain is breached.

The double gripper features an adjustable air pressure supply which can have between two and three fingers for holding raw materials and finish-machined workpieces internally or externally. Between 10 to 135mm in diameter workpieces can be handled up to a maximum weight of 12kg, including the gripper head.

Adjustments can be made to the grid plate holding the raw materials and finished parts for height, making it best suited to the installation needs and can hold up to 188 workpieces if the locations are sized up to 20mm. Numbers of parts drop to 14 as the sizes get closer to 135mm.
