ifm has launched the LDL3x1 conductivity sensor, a new-generation analytical sensor designed for applications where the highest standards of water purity determine product quality and process safety.
The sensor can measure conductivity from as low as 0.04 µS/cm and provides operators continuous, reliable insight into water quality across every treatment stage.
High resolution is central to the sensor’s value as it enables the detection of the smallest deviations, which matters when water purity is essential. In ultrapure water processes, rising conductivity or falling resistivity can signal early that, for example, filters need maintenance.

When monitoring cooling circuits, the sensor can detect early increases in water mineralisation, allowing countermeasures to begin before damage to connected systems occurs. This condition-based approach helps customers reduce downtime, conserve resources and extend equipment service life.
On the technical side, the LDL3x1 covers a conductivity measuring range of 0.04 to 1,0000µS/cm and also provides a specific resistance value from 0.001 to 25MΩ/cm, making it suited to the purest water applications. IP67, IP68, and IP69 protection ratings support demanding environments, while stainless steel, PEEK, and FKM materials ensure durability in contact with the medium.
These capabilities make the LDL3x1 suitable for the food and beverage industry, pharmaceutical production, semiconductor manufacturing, hydrogen production and power generation.
From monitoring the ultrapure water required for water electrolysis to safeguarding cooling circuits and treatment systems, the LDL3x1 gives engineers a versatile and reliable tool that reduces stockholding costs and simplifies servicing.
