The latest sensors from littelfuse, the LF53466 and LF53464, utilise Tunnelling magnetoresistance (TMR) technology
Littelfuse, an industrial technology manufacturing company, has announced the launch of two new TMR-based magnetic angle sensors, the LF53466 and LF53464
Expanding their magnetic sensor portfolio, the new sensors from littelfuse have been designed to work in harsh environments with minimal thermal drift. They can deliver high-precision 0–360° angular measurements.
Tunnelling magnetoresistance (TMR) technology is utilised by both sensors in a dual push-pull Wheatstone bridge configuration, each featuring four high-sensitivity sensing elements, enabling angle detection to be accurate on both the X and Y axes.
Both sensors offer an alternative to Hall-effect devices by providing thermal stability, wide supply voltage compatibility and enhanced measurement precision.
The LF53466 is in a standard TSSOP8 package, it has precision angle sensing, with an error of less than 0.8° in the 200–800 Gs magnetic field range. The sensor is ideal for industrial and automotive applications such as steering wheel angle sensors, pedal position sensors, and contactless potentiometers.
The LF53464 is in a compact LGA8L package and has even greater accuracy, with its angle error being below 0.6°, while allowing for wider airgap capability and compatibility with smaller, lower-cost magnets. Suited for space-constrained applications like rotary encoders, knob and valve position sensing, and consumer devices, including power tools and appliances.
